Description

Old Gaines is a timber-frame and plaster panel building, partly of early 16th century origin with additions dating to around 1600. The ground floor is partially constructed of stone. The building is two storeys high, featuring leaded pane casement windows. It has a small gable and a tile roof with gable ends. Notable features include 17th century brick chimneys built on the diagonal. The building is documented in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments volume II, page 215.
