Description
Two cottages, originally one dating from the 17th century and extended in the 19th century. They are located on OS sheet SO 75 SW in Knightwick civil parish. The cottages are constructed with a mix of timber framing with painted brick infill and brick, all topped with a tiled roof. The arrangement is of two structural bays plus two, with external stacks at the gable ends. A large external chimney is located at the rear of the original 17th-century cottage, though the stack has since been removed. The cottages are single-storey with an attic, featuring dormers. The original 17th-century cottage has two ground-floor casement windows and a gabled dormer with a casement window to the left bay, with a planked door beneath. The 19th-century addition has a moulded brick course at the eaves, two ground-floor casement windows with cambered heads, two gabled dormers with casements, and a central doorway with a gabled porch and planked door. A brick outshut is attached to the rear of both cottages. Inside the 17th-century section, stop-chamfered spine beams are present.
