Description

Huntlands Cottages comprise a symmetrical pair of 18th-century stone rubble estate cottages. They were built between 1750 and 1780 by John Freeman for the Gaines Estate. The cottages are two storeys and five bays wide with a gable-ended peg tile roof. They feature good, flanking external chimney stacks with brick shafts rising from massive stepped stone bases. The ground floor has three two-light, small-paned, 19th-century wooden casement windows and two plain doorways, each under a segmental brick header arch. The first floor has three horizontal, glazed, two-light casements beneath the eaves. A full-width rear outshut has been added with later casements.
