Description
This building is a workshop located about 3 yards east of Nos 16 and 17 in Tenbury, likely originally used as stables or a byre. It dates from the 17th century and has been altered in the late 19th century and mid-20th century. The structure is timber-framed with brick infill sitting on a rubble base, featuring brick replacement walling and weatherboarded gable ends, topped with a plain tiled roof. It consists of three framed bays arranged east to west and is a single storey high. The framing includes three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, short straight upper corner braces, and the end trusses are not visible from the outside.
On the main south elevation, there are a 2-light window and a 3-light window, along with a blocked opening that has a cambered head. There is also a doorway with a ledged and battened door and a transom light that contains four glazing bars. A 20th-century yellow brick lean-to outshut with a corrugated iron roof is attached to the north side. An interior inspection was not possible during the survey in May 1987. This building is included for its group value and for its preservation as an agricultural building type within an urban setting.
