Description
This chest tomb, dating from around 1830, is located about 15 yards south of the south porch of the Church of St Bartholomew's. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar and designed in the Greek Revival style. The tomb features a moulded plinth and flat capping, with reeded corner pilasters. The sides are adorned with corner fans and shaped inscription panels that display raised lettering. It commemorates William Benbow, who died in 1821, and Elizabeth Benbow, who died in 1827.
