Barn To West Of Pond At Swinley Court

This is a barn located to the west of the pond at Swinley Court, dating from the 17th century, with additions made in the late 18th century. The structure features timber framing and brick, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The left-hand (northern) end is an addition made of brick, which includes a window on both floors and a wide doorway on the right. To the right of this addition, the barn displays exposed framing consisting of three rows of square panels filled with brick, along with a second wide doorway to its right. The right-hand section of the front wall is boarded. The interior was not fully accessible during the survey in May 1986, but two trusses visible to the right of the entrance are made of hardwood and feature strapped king-posts. The truss to the left of the entrance has vertical struts positioned between the tie-beam and collar.
