Description
Gate House Farmhouse is a house that likely dates back to around 1600, with some alterations made in the 19th century. It features a combination of timber-framing and brick, topped with a tile roof. The building has two storeys, and the south facade is made of brick, consisting of two bays that include casement windows and a door located between the bays, all sheltered by an open timber porch. To the left, there is a cross-wing with a rendered front wall, which has two windows on each floor, with the ground floor windows positioned next to each other. There are chimneys located to the right of the doorway and on the left side of the cross-wing, the latter featuring a projecting stack with diagonal shafts, one of which is now truncated. The right-hand (east) gable wall displays exposed close-studded framing. The truss in this section includes two raking struts, two central vertical struts, and V-struts above the collar. The interior was not accessible during the survey conducted in June 1986.
