Description
Hollybush War Memorial is a village war memorial dated to around 1920. It is made of textured granite with inlaid lead lettering. The memorial features a cross with a stylised head, a tapered shaft, and square arms that extend in front of a stylised wheel head. The tapered base is inscribed with the words: "THIS CROSS IS ERECTED TO / THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN / LOVING GRATEFUL MEMORY OF / THE FOLLOWING HOLLYBUSH MEN / WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR / COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR / 1914 – 1918." This is followed by the names of the fallen. Below the names, it reads: "THE KING OF THE WORLD SHALL RAISE US UP / WHO HAVE DIED FOR HIS LAWS UNTO EVER- / LASTING LIFE." The other faces of the memorial are blank. The base is supported by a plinth of two steps.
