Description

Fishpool Cottage is a house that was originally divided into two homes. It dates from the 17th century and was altered in the mid-20th century. The building is timber-framed with rendered infill on a painted brick base, topped with a plain tiled roof and a central brick ridge stack. It has four framed bays aligned north to south and features a large central chimney. The cottage is one storey with an attic, which includes half-dormers.

The framing consists of three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with long straight braces in some lower corners. At the north end, there is a tie-beam truss with lattice struts, while the south end features a collar and tie-beam truss with three struts below the collar and a V-strut above.

On the east front elevation, there are two 3-light casements and two 2-light casements on the ground floor. The attic has two eyebrow half-dormers, each containing a pair of 2-light casements. To the right of center, there are a pair of glazed 20th-century doors with a semi-circular head. The gable ends also have attic lights.

At the rear, there is a 20th-century flat-roofed extension that runs the full length of the west elevation, featuring a glazed 20th-century door at its north end, which serves as the current main entrance. Inside, there are two fireplaces located side by side at the center of the house.
