Description
This is a detached kitchen, now used as a store, located about one yard north-west of Parsons Hall Farm. It dates from the 17th century and was altered in the mid-19th century. The structure is timber-framed, featuring painted brick and rendered infill, along with painted brick replacement walling, topped with a plain tiled roof. It consists of two framed bays that are aligned roughly north to south, and it has an external rubble chimney with a detached brick stack and a circular bread oven situated at the south end. The building is a single storey with an attic.
The framing on the west side has three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, while one row of panels survives at eaves level on the east side. It has a collar and tie-beam truss with three struts below the collar and a V-strut above at the north end.
On the east front elevation, there is a four-pane window and a two-light casement on the ground floor, along with a central ledged and battened door. There are attic lights at the north end and a lean-to brick addition at that same end. The interior retains a large fireplace.
This building is included for its group value.
