Description
The former detached kitchen, located about 4.5 metres north of Ostlers Meadows Farmhouse, is likely from the late 18th century and was altered in the mid-19th century. It features a combination of timber framing with brick infill and brick construction, topped with a plain tiled roof. The building is composed of two bays aligned north to south, with brick stacks positioned at the north end of the ridge. It is a single-storey structure.
The framing consists mainly of rectangular panels extending from the sill to the wall-plate, with long straight braces in the lower corners. The south gable end has a collar and tie-beam truss with four struts to the collar and a V-strut in the apex. The north gable end and the east wall have been rebuilt in brick. The east side elevation includes a casement window and an entrance, both featuring cambered heads.
Inside, the roof has an intermediate king-post truss, and the building retains baking ovens and a boiler. This kitchen is included for its group value with the nearby farmhouse.
