Description

The barn to the east of Massey Farmhouse is a 17th-century structure built with a timber frame and red brick infill, topped with a plain tile roof. It features three bays, with a two-storey section at the north end. The framing consists of square panels arranged in a 3 x 17 configuration. The roof has double purlins supported by queen strut tie beams and collar trusses. There are cart openings located in the center of the barn. On the south end wall, there is an open lean-to cart shed with two bays, and an additional two bays to the west that support a timber-framed upper floor, also covered with a tiled roof. The rear wall of this section is made of stone.
