Description
Nashend Farmhouse and the adjoining outbuilding to the west are likely from the early 17th century or earlier, with alterations made in the 19th century. The farmhouse features timber framing and brick construction topped with a tile roof. It is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with a brick front and 20th-century metal casement windows. There is a door located between the second and third bays, which is sheltered by a hipped tiled porch. A projecting chimney stack is found on the right-hand gable.
The left-hand gable wall is partially covered by a lower outbuilding, which has its front wall set back from the main facade. This gable wall reveals an exposed cruck truss, with the lower part of the front blade truncated. The lower part of the rear blade is also visible in the outbuilding. The rear wall of the farmhouse displays exposed framing arranged in three rows of square panels, with a fourth row added to raise the eaves. The two lower rows of panels extend across the rear wall of the outbuilding, which has had a third row removed. This indicates that the cruck truss may have originally been internal and that the outbuilding occupies the site of a partially demolished bay of the farmhouse. No other cruck trusses are visible in the interior.
