Description
This is a small country house, now part of the Kings Norton Golf Club. The original house was built in the late 18th century for James Mynors, and was substantially rebuilt between 1884 and 1885 by J. Cotton. A late 20th-century extension has been added, set back to the right. The house is constructed of brick with stone dressings and a tile roof.
The west front has an E-shaped plan, with identical projecting wings of two storeys and an attic. A moulded stone string is framed by Corinthian stone pilasters. Each wing features a Venetian window with a shell within a semi-circular arch, and gables above have vertically set oval windows with a moulded cornice. The ground floor windows are sashes, with the upper halves containing six panes and the lower halves three vertical panes. The main range is of two storeys and an attic, with three sashes in a pedimented central feature bearing arms flanked by engaged balusters. A moulded stone cornice runs along the main range, which has a 1+5+1 window arrangement, with the centre slightly advanced; all windows have cambered heads and scrolled pediments. The central porch on the ground floor has a datestone above a semi-circular arch with a two-leaf door.
The 19th-century plans indicate that the original 18th-century house is incorporated within the 19th-century structure.
