Description

Moorgreen Hall is a late 17th-century house with later 19th-century and mid-20th-century alterations. It is a timber-frame building, now pebble-dashed, with a machine tile roof. The house has an L-shaped plan, with sections extending to the east and south. The main east/west range has three bays, while the other range has four bays. Brick stacks are located on the east gable and the west lateral wall. The south front features a projecting gabled range to the left, two stories high with a gable-lit attic, containing a single three-light casement window. The main range is two stories high with two windows, which are three-light casements. An entrance is situated in an angle, protected by a 19th-century tiled lean-to porch. The timber framing is arranged in four square panels on the first floor. Internally, a first-floor room in the south wing has a late 17th-century decorated plaster ceiling. A ground-floor room on the east gable features a large fireplace with a massive lintel formed from a single slab of stone, and a beam with an ovolo moulding.
