Description

Hall Farmhouse is a 16th-century farmhouse which was re-clad in brick in 1827 and extended in 1895. It is timber-framed with a brick exterior and a tile roof. The south front has two storeys and a dentilled brick cornice, featuring three windows with three-light casements. The ground floor entrance is located to the left of centre and is framed by a 20th-century gabled brick porch with a panelled door. Inside, the central room has chamfered ceiling beams with evidence of a jetty to the front. A window in this room contains some reset 15th-century stained glass. The roof contains a panelled room without windows, which is believed to have been a secret Roman Catholic chapel. Datestones are set into the gable of the porch. According to research from 1933, this room may have served as a place of clandestine worship.
