Description
35 and 37 Bridge Street is a bank and offices built in the late 19th century. It is constructed of sandstone and features a slate roof. The building stands three storeys tall and has seven bays. The ground floor was altered in the mid-20th century. The first floor bays are divided by Corinthian pilasters, with the outer ones having granite shafts. The entablature includes a frieze with carved decoration and a cornice with modillions. The windows on this level have round heads and pilaster reveals, with paired narrow lights in the middle bay. The upper storey features Doric pilasters, an enriched frieze, and a cornice with egg-and-dart moulding. The windows here have pilaster reveals and flat heads with rounded upper corners, again with paired narrow lights in the central bay. This building is part of a close group next to No 29, which is Taylor's Music Shop.
