Description

This building is a row of shops and offices located on Bridge Street, dating from the late 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with sandstone dressings and features a slate roof. The structure stands three storeys tall and consists of five main bays, with a narrow bay above the entrance to the right of the second main bay.

On the ground floor, the shop fronts are separated by Ionic pilasters with granite shafts, which support an entablature with a moulded cornice. The upper storeys are divided by a giant order of Composite pilasters, from which segmental super-arches with keystones spring. Above these is a dentilled cornice. The first-floor windows are stone oriels with rounded corners and pilasters acting as mullions. The second-floor windows also have rounded upper corners and feature a central Composite column as a mullion. The doorway is topped with a round arch that includes a keystone carved in the shape of a head. The building is adorned with gable chimneys.
