Description
The County Court, built in 1831, originally served as a library before being converted into a court in the mid-19th century. The building features a stucco exterior and a slate roof. Its symmetrical facade includes a Greek Doric prostyle tetrastyle portico with a pediment and an entablature adorned with a triglyph frieze. On either side of the portico, there is one bay that contains a blind recess with an architrave that narrows towards the top and a pediment above. The corners of the building are accentuated by clasping pilasters. The main doorway, which is now sheltered by a modern glass porch, has an architrave topped with a cornice supported by console brackets. The left-hand return wall, which faces Leicester Street, consists of three bays separated by pilasters. The right-hand bay features a window with a lugged architrave, while the other bays contain blank recesses with architraves.
