Description
Beeches Road School is a school building constructed in 1892 by architect Alfred Long. It is made of brick with some stone dressings and features a tiled roof. The building is single storey with a symmetrical front block that has projecting gables on each side. The windows have glazing bars, and under each gable are triple pointed windows. The recessed centre includes paired windows flanked by taller pointed windows, all topped with gables that are coped and have some decorative elements at the apex.
To the left, there is a tower with a doorway at the base that has "Infants" inscribed on the lintel, set beneath a glazed Tudor-arched head. Above this doorway, a weathered offset holds a plaque with a cusped head under an ogee hood, which reads: "West Bromwich School Board. Beeches Road School. Erected 1892. Alfred Long Architect. J Mallin Builder". Below the overhanging roof of the tower is a clock face, sheltered by a gablet with bargeboards. The tower is topped with an open timber cupola and a pyramidal roof that features gables and a weathervane.
