Description

The Former Sunday School, built around 1830 in the Tudor style, is located on the east side of High Street in Wordsley. An extension was added in 1899, along with later alterations and additions. The original building was two storeys high, but the floor has since been removed. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and features a tiled roof with two short hexagonal brick stacks. The crow-stepped gabled ends include two two-light mullioned windows set in stone architraves with hood moulds, and there is a school bell mechanism in the south-east gable.

The main elevation is divided into three sections. The middle section slightly projects forward and has a crow-stepped gable with a four-light mullioned window in the gabled end, featuring a stone architrave. The centre two lights of this window are taller, and above it is a square label that now has a modern ventilator. On the ground storey, there are two two-light windows under a continuous hood mould, also with stone mullions. The two flanking sections each have a gabled semi-dormer with a carved barge-board and a three-light casement window, where the centre light is taller and set in a stone architrave with mullions. The ground storey of these sections also has two windows each under a continuous hood mould, with modern ventilators similar to the centre section. There are later additions to the south-east.
