Description
The Offices of Kenrick and Jefferson Limited, built in 1883, are located on the north-east side of High Street in West Bromwich. This building features red brick and red terra cotta with a hipped tile roof. It is a symmetrical two-storey structure with an attic, characterized by upper and lower cornices and a balustrade adorned with urns.
At each end of the facade, there are quoin strips on the ground floor and paired pilasters above. The center of the facade is highlighted by an oriel window above the doorway and an elaborate attic dormer with a broken pediment. The lower part of the oriel is inscribed with the year "1883". Each side of the facade has a pronounced center featuring triple windows, where the outer ones are narrower, and a pedimented attic dormer, along with two windows on each side. These windows are framed with architraves and have broken pediments decorated with terra cotta on the ground floor. The building was originally constructed as the printing and publishing offices of the Free Press Company and is illustrated in the Victoria County History.
