Description
The drinking fountain and canopy, located on High Street in West Bromwich, was built in 1885 and is made of cast iron. It features decorated round columns with foliated capitals. The upper part of the structure has multi-cusped round arches on each side, adorned with openwork foliage decoration. Above each arch, there is a circle with a ropework border that contains a cartouche depicting a stork. On one side, instead of a stork, there is an inscription that reads: "In loving memory of Elizabeth Farley. This fountain was erected by her son Alderman Farley JP 1885." The dome, which has openwork decoration between its ribs, is topped with an eagle. Some of the bases of the columns are inscribed with "W MACFARLANE & CO GLASGOW."
