Description
Handsworth Grammar School was built in 1892 by Mr. Bidlake of Wolverhampton at a cost of £2,300. The school features red and black brick with stone dressings and has a tiled roof. It is a single-storey building with seven bays. The first, sixth, and seventh bays are advanced and gabled, while the sixth bay serves as the entrance, featuring a clock and a shingled bell turret with 'Roguish' detail. The first bay includes central buttresses and two windows, while the seventh bay has a central tall three-light window in a shouldered arched surround, along with two lancet-type windows. Bays two to five represent the hall, which has four three-light windows and a shingled louvred turret on the skyline. All the windows feature geometrical-type tracery. Only this part of the building is listed.
