Description
The Rhodes Almshouses, built in the mid-19th century, are located on Soho Road in Handsworth. This building is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a patterned slate roof. It is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with the outer bays advanced and topped with broad shaped gables. The inner bay has pairs of small ogee gables that are separated by the doors. The design is in a Jacobean style. The doors are pointed and have moulded frames at the heads. Most windows are 2-light casements, except for the ground floor canted bay windows in the outer bays. Additionally, there are panels featuring shields with initials.
