SANDWELL MB BIRMINGHAM CANAL SO 98 NE Wolverhampton Level, W Bromwich 8/34 Footbridge over Old Main Line at Bromford Junction,(approx 30.3.87 40m) west of Spon Lane Locks

Footbridge over the Old Main Line (Wolverhampton Level) of the Birmingham Canal at its junction with Telford's New Main Line. 1829. Cast-iron with brick abut- ments having some sandstone dressings. Single elliptical arch. Each side formed from two castings, bolted to central "keystone". Sides pierced to form pattern of saltire crosses, with a band of quatrefoils under the handrail. Spandrel inscribed: "HORSELEY IRON WORKS 1829".
