Description
No. 215 Hagley Road is a building from around 1800 that has been altered. It is constructed of red brick and has a slate roof. The building stands three storeys tall, with the top storey being a later addition. It features four bays, with the right bay and possibly the quoins on either side being later additions as well.
On the ground floor, there is one window, a heavy late 19th-century red brick porch with stucco dressings, a round-headed arch, and panelled walls, along with two additional windows. The first floor has a stucco sill band and four windows, while the second floor also has a stucco sill band with four almost square windows. All windows are sash style with glazing bars, except for those on the second floor and one on the first floor, which have rusticated voussoirs.
The left side of the building, facing Stirling Road, is stuccoed and features the original front entrance doorcase, which has Tuscan columns supporting an open dentilled pediment that is raised high and used as a window frame. The original house may have been designed to balance another building to the east, which has since been demolished, creating a formal approach to the large house that is now the centerpiece of St Chad's Hospital.
