Description
No. 18 Clarendon Road is a three-storey red brick house built around 1850. It features a symmetrical front with three bays, a plinth, and a moulded boxed eaves cornice beneath a low-pitched slate roof, which has corniced chimney stacks on either side. The wall extends from the first floor to the right, sweeping down over a coach house. The upper floors have revealed windows with three vertical panes per sash and stucco sills. The first-floor windows are adorned with fielded friezes and are flanked by consoles that support cornices with pedimental blocking courses and keystones. The second-floor windows have finely gauged brick arches, with the center window being round-headed. On the ground floor, there are wooden canted bays with slender colonettes between the dividers and consoles in the frieze. The entrance features double panelled doors with a semi-circular fanlight, all revealed in two orders.
