Description

St Gilbert's is a mid-19th century building located on Hagley Road in Edgbaston. It is constructed of brick and features a slate roof. The building stands two storeys tall and has three main bays, with a fourth bay on the left that is slightly recessed. The ground floor includes a central entrance set within a closed porch, which has an arched opening and is flanked by piers and Tuscan columns that support an entablature. There are two tripartite windows with arched lights and cornices on brackets. The first floor features three arched windows, and the eaves cornice is dentilled and moulded. The recessed bay has coupled arched windows on the ground floor and a window on the first floor that matches the others. All windows are sashes with glazing bars. To the left of the main building, there is a link wall with subsidiary arches and an entrance leading to a two-storey coach house, which has a broad segmental arched opening and a small arched window above. To the right, there is a single-storey extension with coupled arched windows.
