Description
This is a mid-19th century brick building on Monument Road, Ladywood. It is three storeys high and originally comprised four bays arranged in a 2:2 rhythm. The ground floor has been altered, with the first bay cut away to create an entrance to a modern garage, followed by a large modern shop front, and then a shop front likely dating to the early 20th century with curved glass windows, slender colonnettes with floriated capitals, a door with brass furniture, and a shop fascia with gilt lettering. The first floor has four windows with cornices supported by brackets; three are sash windows, and one is a modern casement. The second floor has four almost square windows set under the eaves, with three sash windows and one modern casement. The building has a slate roof with a moulded brick eaves cornice. The listing applies only to the portions of numbers 214 and 215 as described.
