Description

This is an early 19th century semi-detached pair of houses located on Monument Road in Ladywood. The houses are constructed of stucco with a slate roof. Each house has two storeys and three bays, with the central bay slightly advanced and topped with a pediment. The ground floor features a central arched entrance leading up steps to a shallow porch with block rustication and a bracketed cornice. There are two windows on the ground floor, each with cornices supported by brackets. A band runs along the first-floor sill level. The second floor has three windows, the central one with an eared moulded surround, and the other two with plain moulded surrounds. All windows are sash windows; those in No. 271 retain their original glazing bars.
