Description

Calkin Cottage is a timber-framed cottage dating from around the early 19th century, or possibly earlier. The building has red brick infill panels set within the timber frame, and stands on sandstone foundations. It has a steeply pitched plain tile roof with gabled ends. A slightly projecting gabled bay is located on the right-hand side. The cottage is one storey high, with an attic. Within the gabled bay is a projecting three-light casement window with leaded lights, and above it, a similar window set flush with the wall. To the left of the gabled bay is a part-glazed plank door flanked by side lights, and to the left of the door, a two-light casement window with leaded lights. A brick chimney stack rises from the ridge of the roof.
