Description
No. 3 Birmingham Road is a timber-framed cruck cottage dating from around the 16th century, which has been faced in red brick during the 18th or early 19th century. The interior shows the outlines of two pairs of crucks. The cottage was extended by 3 feet to the west in the 17th century. It features a steeply pitched thatched roof with gabled ends, with the north-west gable being timber-framed. The building is one storey with an attic and has two windows. There is an off-centre plank door with a glazed panel, a three-light casement window with glazing bars to the left, and a two-light casement window with glazing bars to the right. At attic level in the north-west gable, there is another two-light casement window with glazing bars. A brick chimney stack is located at the rear.
