Description

Phoenix Cottage is a well-preserved timber-framed cruck cottage dating from around 1500. It features three bays with red brick infill panels and has a steeply pitched thatched roof with gabled ends, where pairs of crucks are exposed. The cottage includes long wind braces and has one storey plus an attic. The entrance is marked by a plank door, and there are five casement windows with glazing bars, most of which are modern. Additionally, there are three eyebrow dormers, each fitted with a two-light casement window with glazing bars. A brick ridge chimney stack is present. Inside, the cottage showcases chamfered and scroll-stopped ceiling beams.
