Description
This is a mid-19th century villa located on Binswood Avenue, Royal Leamington Spa. Binswood Avenue was laid out around 1828. The villa is part of a group of properties, Nos. 62-70 (even), which are also listed.
The villa is constructed of pinkish-brown brick, with a stucco facade to the right return and a painted stucco facade to the front. It has a Welsh slate roof and ashlar copings. The building is arranged over two storeys, with three first-floor windows. A projecting, gabled range to the right includes a ground-floor canted bay window. A chamfered plinth runs around the base. A central entrance is accessed by three roll-edged steps, leading to a multi-pane, glazed door within a chamfered, segmental-arched opening, which has a moulded hood with face stops. The windows are 1/1 sashes with sills and chamfered surrounds; those in the bay window have hoodmoulds with foliate stops. The canted bay window is embattled. Decorative bands run along the first floor and eaves. A quatrefoil is set within a recessed, chamfered square niche in the front gable, topped with a pinnacle. The roof features copings, fleurs-de-lys ridge tiles, and tall end stacks with cornices. The interior was not inspected.
