Description
47 Beauchamp Avenue is a villa, now converted into flats, built around 1831 with later additions and alterations, including a late 19th-century extension to the side and mid to late 20th-century changes to the windows. It was designed by William Thomas and features pinkish-brown brick with a painted stucco front facade and a Welsh slate roof. The building has two storeys and two first-floor windows, with a narrow, single-storey bay on the left. The entrance, located on the left return, consists of a six-panel door with a blocked, rounded overlight set within a recessed arched surround. The front facade displays horizontal rustication, French casements, and tall, unequally-hung plate glass sash windows. The first-floor band is supported by three pairs of Ionic pilasters, and there are 1/1 sashes, a frieze, a dentil cornice, and a blocking course that continues to the left side. The building has end stacks. The interior has not been inspected. Beauchamp Avenue was laid out as Beauchamp Terrace around 1828, and this villa forms a group with No.49.
