Description
Lock Cottage Number 3 is a lock cottage located on the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal, built between 1812 and 1813, with later additions from the 19th century. The cottage is made of rendered brick and features an asphalt-covered brick barrel-vault roof with segmental parapet gable ends. It has a single storey and an off-centre brick chimney stack. The west gable end wall has an off-centre doorway with a plank door, and to the left of the door, there is a single 3-light casement window. The south wall includes a 2-light casement window, with a 3-light casement window to the right. The north wall features a 2-light casement window, and to the left, there is a later 19th-century two-bay twin-gabled extension with plain tile roofs and a brick chimney stack, each bay containing a single 2-light casement window. The Southern Stratford Canal was constructed between 1812 and 1816.
