Description
Finwood Hill is a house dating from the 16th century, featuring a cross-wing and a main range that was built in the late 16th century. The building has undergone later alterations. The ground floor of the main range is constructed of brick, while the cross-wing to the right has small timber-framing with brick infill on the ground floor and timber-framing on the first floor. The roof is covered with old plain tiles. There is a brick stack at the left end and an internal stack to the left of the centre at the rear, which has two diagonally set flues.
The house is two storeys high with a four-bay main range and a three-bay cross-wing to the right, facing the garden. A plank door is located to the left of centre, and the windows have irregular placements with casements featuring leaded lights. The cross-wing has a queen post roof truss visible at the gable end. The rear of the house, which now serves as the entrance front, has a brick encasement from the 18th century. Inside, there are 16th-century stone fireplaces located on the ground and first floors to the left of centre.
