Description

Lowsonford Post Office and attached cottage is a house that now serves as a post office and dwelling, with the cottage attached to the left. The main building dates from the 17th century, while the cottage is from the 18th century. The structure has a roughcast exterior, likely built on a timber frame, and features an old plain-tile roof, with an area of 20th-century plain tiles on the right side. There is a brick ridge stack located to the left of the center. The building likely follows a three-unit lobby-entry plan and is two stories high with three bays.

The entrance is a plank door positioned to the left of center, which is sheltered by a 19th-century wooden gabled porch. There are 19th-century casement windows in the center and right bays, and a three-light casement window on the first floor to the left. The right return of the main building shows timber-framing with brick infill.

The attached cottage, dating from the 18th century, also has a roughcast exterior, likely on a timber frame, and an old plain-tile roof with a brick ridge stack at the center. It is a single story with an attic and has a two-window range. The cottage features a 20th-century glazed door on the left with an open porch, two 20th-century casement windows on the ground floor, and a gabled half-dormer on the right with a two-light casement window. The interiors have not been inspected.
