Description

The railings and gate piers to Number 1 are a significant feature located on the north side of Binswood Avenue in Royal Leamington Spa. They date from the mid to late 19th century and consist of cast-iron railings paired with brick piers. The piers have painted stucco sides and an ashlar cap. The railings are designed in a lancet style. Each pier is square in shape with a chamfered plinth, a shaft that is chamfered at the angles, a frieze, a cornice, and a pyramidal cap. These elements contribute to the overall streetscape and enhance the setting of Number 1.
