Description
The Rest is a house, now divided into two, dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with alterations from the early to mid-19th century. The ground floor is constructed of stone, while the front wall is faced in 19th-century brick, and the upper floor is timber framed and rendered in the 20th century, with a whitewashed finish. The building has a tile roof featuring a central stone chimney stack. It follows a two-unit lobby entry plan and is two storeys high with a two-window range. The front door, which is an early 19th-century flat six-panelled design, is accompanied by sash windows. Inside, there are two winder staircases: one located against the chimney stack and another that was added in the 19th century. The first floor displays exposed large framing, and the ground floor front wall is notably thick.
