Description

Rooks Orchard is a house dating from the mid-17th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century and the 20th. The ground floor is built of red brick, while the first floor features replacement timber framing with painted brick infill. The roof is of old plain tiles, with a brick ridge stack located centrally. Originally designed with a two-unit lobby-entry plan, it is now two storeys high and has a two-window frontage. A 20th-century part-glazed door is on the right-hand side. Most windows are three-light casements, except for the bay window on the ground floor to the left. Straight flight stairs are present. The roof structure features queen-post construction. An open fireplace is located on the first floor to the left. A mid-17th century timber-framed rear wall remains, featuring angle braces. The house also incorporates chamfered spine beams with ogee end stops.
