Description
Gazeley Stud House is a house dating from the early 16th century, with alterations made in the mid 19th century. It has a three-cell lobby entrance plan and is two storeys high. The house is timber-framed and rendered on a brick plinth, with the upper floor jettied to the south. The roof is hipped and slated, having been rebuilt in the 19th century, and features an axial chimney made of red brick. The windows are mainly mid 19th century casements, typically with two lights. There is a one-storey entrance porch from the 19th century, which has a gabled slated roof and a 20th-century glazed door. The house is substantial and showcases good quality timber framing, although much of it is now concealed. The main first-floor beams have double ogee mouldings and carved leaf stops that are characteristic of the early 16th century. Additionally, there is a massive axial chimney that likely dates from the 16th or 17th century.
