Description

The stables and coach house, located 30 meters northwest of Dalham Hall, date from the early 18th century and underwent alterations and extensions in 1906, as indicated by the date on the rainwater head. The building is two stories high with nine windows arranged in an A-B-C-B-A pattern. It is constructed of red brick with reddened joints and features a string course at the first floor and a coved cornice at the eaves. The corners are accentuated with rusticated quoins and raised rendered blocks.

Bay 'B' has a slight projection that is three windows wide, topped with a pediment that contains a dummy circular window. The roof is hipped and covered with plain tiles. The windows have segmental arches made of gauged brick with raised painted keystones. The ground floor windows are mullioned and transomed casements, featuring leaded lights and iron casements, while the first-floor windows have small-pane wooden casements, some of which are painted cummies.

In bay 'B', there are two doorways with six fielded panel doors, each topped with a divided fanlight under a segmental arch of gauged brick. These doorways are flanked by sunk pilasters and have a moulded wooden cornice supported by console brackets. Inside, there is a range of 19th or early 20th-century stalls running the full length of the stables.
