Description

The Cedars is a house, originally dating to 1770, and refronted in the early 19th century. It has been divided into two separate units. The building is constructed of brick, with some colourwashing, and has a whitewashed rendered front. The roof is slate, with whitewashed chimneys located on either side. It is arranged in an L-shape and stands three storeys high with three bays. Moulded band courses are present at the first and second floor levels, and the eaves are of wooden construction, paired on brackets. The outer bays have tripartite sash windows with small moulded wooden cornices, all renewed in the 20th century. A four-pane sash window, similarly corniced, is found to the centre of the first floor, with a blind window panel at the centre of the second floor. The central doorway features double-panelled doors and a rectangular fanlight with patterned glazing. A two-storey rear wing has dentil eaves. Inside the front block, the staircase has three turned balusters per tread and cut scroll tread ends. There are fireplaces, one made of marble and one of stone.
