Description
Barclays Bank is a building that dates back to the 16th century and was remodeled in the late 18th to 19th centuries. It features a cruck frame, with a cruck truss visible in the left gable and some timber framing seen in the front wall to the right of the center. The rest of the structure is rebuilt using granite rubble, with some brick and cob, part of which is plastered and mostly whitewashed. The building has a thatched roof with four brick chimneys: one at each gable and two in the center. The right gable has brick coping. The building is 1½ storeys tall and consists of four bays. It has irregular barred wooden casements, mostly from the 20th century, with five ground floor windows and two in thatch eyebrows. One ground floor window to the right is a horizontal sliding sash. Between the left bays, there is a blocked doorway with a lozenge-shaped window, and a 20th-century door is located at the center. Inside, there are two additional cruck trusses with collars, yokes, and rought wind-braces.
