Description
This is a cottage located at 9 Welford Road in Bidford-on-Avon, dating from the 17th century with an 18th-century wing added to the rear. The building is timber framed, featuring some bracing and plastered infill, with a low lias plinth and some lias walling at the left corner. It has a thatched roof and a stone external stack with a brick shaft on the left end. The cottage is one unit that has been extended to form an L-plan. The entrance front faces the garden, with the gable end and wing oriented towards the road. It stands two storeys high with an attic. The ground floor has a 20th-century glazed door and window, while the rest of the windows are 20th-century casements with glazing bars. The road-facing side has whitewashed brick infill, with a low wing featuring thin framing above the whitewashed brick and lias end wall. There are two windows on the ground floor and a triangular attic window in the apex. The wing has two windows at different levels, and the left end shows some late 20th-century framing flush with the stack. Inside, there is an open fireplace, winder stairs, and one old plank door.
