Description

Preston Bagot Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1820, with later alterations. It is constructed of reddish-brown brick in Flemish bond and has a Welsh slate roof. The layout features a central hallway plan with a double range at the rear.

The exterior is two storeys high and has three first-floor windows. There are end pilaster strips, and the central entrance features a part-glazed four-panel door with an overlight, set within a doorcase of Tuscan pilasters, a frieze, a cornice, and a stylized pediment. The outer windows are 8/8 sash windows, while the center window on the first floor is a 6/6 sash, all set under flat arches with channelled sills on the ground floor. The building has a stepped eaves band, a gabled roof, and ridge stacks. A Farmers' Union firemark is located on the left gable end.

Inside, the front part of the house has six-panel doors, while the rear features board doors. The front windows have shutters. Most rooms contain beams, with some in the rear being chamfered with ogee stops, while those in the front are mainly boxed. The front left room on the ground floor has a fireplace with decorative corbels, and the first floor features cast-iron fireplaces. A narrow open-well staircase with short stick balusters leads to the upper floor.

The farmhouse forms a group with the nearby stables, cart sheds, and threshing barn.
