Description
The threshing barn at Preston Bagot Farm is a structure likely built in the mid to late 18th century, with some later repairs. It features reddish brick in stretcher bond on the lower stage, while the upper stage consists of timber-framing and weatherboarding. The gable end is covered with corrugated iron, and the roof is a renewed plain-tile gabled design.
The exterior comprises three bays and includes central opposing split plank threshing doors, along with breathers on the lower stage. Inside, the barn has square timber-framing with angle braces on the side walls. The walls beside the threshing floor have been rebuilt. There is a truncated collar-and-tie-beam truss with queen struts on either side of the threshing bay and at the gable ends, along with two tiers of exposed purlins, rafters, and wind braces.
This barn forms a group with the nearby farmhouse and stables and cart sheds.
