Description

The Oxford Canal Boundary Lift Bridge is an accommodation lift-bridge with origins in the late 18th century, featuring alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. It has a tilting wooden plank deck with wooden handrails and two balance beams set at a raking angle. The bridge is supported by brick abutments with concrete sills and has brick wing walls with trailing edges and stone rubbing blocks on the faces facing the canal. This bridge is part of an important series of Oxford Canal lift-bridges, a type that is now rare in England.
